While Alice and His Royal Nibbs got closer through the use of their computer, she was careful not to come on too strong. She wanted the time to be right before she struck. She had to gain his trust and if it meant sleeping with him she'd do it. She wanted the power and was prepared to do anything to achieve her plan. Her boyfriend didn't share the same interests and as they fought about her actions and her growing, depraved attachment to the Ironmongers and more particularly, His Royal Nibbs, she discarded him like a used tampon. In her mind, he was only holding her back and had done it for far too long. He couldn't get in the way and only served as a detriment to accomplishing what she wanted. But now she now was free to continue without that excess baggage. It was time to swing plan B into action.
The two managers had arranged a match at what would become their homeground, Devil's Marsh and it was scheduled for the following Saturday. Alice had to decide how to make her arrival more noticed. Looking in the mirror she noticed the colouring starting to grow out of her hair. That had to be fixed, she thought, before she could see His Royal Nibbs again. As the weekend approached, she made sure to match as best she could the colour with the hair she had left and used her blackhead gun like she was armed and dangerous. She had to be perfect. She decided that she would arrive a little bit late and make an entrance. Surely this time he'd notice her a bit more.
Saturday arrived and with her grand entrance planned she once again donned her black pants, tight shirt taking special care to stuff her bra a little better and her black coat. She called Nellie and asked if he would take her to the game as the thought of public transport didn't quite appeal to her and she didn't want the mist of the day to mess her hair or pasty white makeup she'd put on. Nellie was on time to pick her up. You could almost set your watch by him, but she made sure to keep him waiting just ever so long to make sure she'd arrive to greet the guys from the changing rooms. Nellie, a quite complacent suck up, patiently waited for her. As she made her way out of her apartment and down to the car, she checked one more time to make sure everything was in place. Gently getting into the car she stuttered, "Oh Nellie.. I'm so sorry I was a bit late. I hope you weren't waiting long." She gently flipped her hair feeling confident all the roots had been taken care of. "Nah, not that long. Only twenty minutes. We'd better get a move on you know ‘cause we're gonna be late." "Well put this thing in drive and step on it then," she chuckled, knowing he didn't have a hope in hell in making it on time.
The guys had started arriving at Devil's Marsh, some running for cover as a brisk wind came up and a heavy rain squall hit; others dancing in the rain in excitement. "Gawd," said Piggie, the champion eater of the team, "I f**kin' hope they aren't gonna cancel the game. I came here to play and I'd better d**n well get on the field." "Oh relax will ya," shouted Shortie to him. "The rain will eventually stop." "Yeah, it'd better because I came here to f**kin' play. Not sit around on m'arse." He looked at the co-manager that was beside him and said, "You know, I'd better get on even though I missed the first game being away ‘cause if I don't, I ain't gonna f**kin' gonna put up with it mate. I'm a good player and if I don't, I'll be walkin'." "Nah, don't worry. Everyone gets a chance to kick that ball around you know." "Well just so long as I get to play I'll be happy," and with that Piggie smiled. He wanted to kick th s**t out of the team.
As the shower squall turned to heavy rain, His Royal Nibb's arrived, children in tow. He took up some small talk with a couple of his subjects, "Ah, the missus wanted me to take them. Something about wanting a break. Can you imagine. Someone is gonna have to keep an eye on them so I can play." "Yeah, what about playing," roared Piggie. "Well the rain should be stopping soon so we're gonna go ahead," shouted his Royal Nibb's back. As he looked at the kids, he said, "You stay RIGHT here while I get changed and for gawd sakes, don't go out into the rain and jump in those puddles." And with that he quickly retired to the dressing room to change into his garb. They were all ready running behind starting the game. "I'll keep a quick eye on ‘em," Minnie spoke out before he'd disappeared completely.
