As His Royal Nibbs emerged from the dressing room, and out into front of the building, the rain was beginning to ease to just a few drops. The youngest child was slapping his new shoes into a puddle and he roared at him to get out. Just then there was a whoosh and Nellie pulled to a screeching stop out front. "Looks like we made it nearly in time," he said to Alice as she put on her hunting face getting out of the car. "Yeah, yeah, thanks Nellie. You go find somewhere to park now."
Taking a quick peek down to make sure the tissues hadn't moved, she made her grand entrance. His Royal Nibbs had glanced at her arrival through the corner of his eye while talking small talk to a couple of the guys. She slithered up to him and sensually gave his back a quick rub. "Hiya Nibby. So do you think we're gonna win these guys today." "We'd better," he said turning to her. "Well you know, I've got some great ideas to move this team forward you know. We MUST get together later to discuss them," slipping him a cutsey smile. "Yup, maybe later on tonight but I have to deposit the kids at home first," he smiled, taking an interest in her and what she had to say. "KIDS! F**KIN' KIDS!" she thought to herself but managed a smile. "How about 7:00?" "You're on!" and with that His Royal Nibbs got the group moving, kids in tow, through the marsh to the field in the back. Cacklin' to herself, she thought "Yeah, if I have my way, I'll be on." Things were starting to look up for her. Her plan was gaining momentum.
As they began the long journey over the marshes His Royal Nibbs kept the kids moving. Minnie also encouraged the youngest by getting the child to kick the ball.. "Come on," she shouted laughing. "Keep up with me!" Alice took up the rear glaring at Minnie but relieved too that the kids weren't hanging on her. She didn't like kids and anyone who took the time to watch could actually see she didn't like them. When they arrived at the site, she noticed that His Royal Nibbs was paying more attention to Minnie, so she butted in, in an awkward way saying she'd keep an eye on them making sure to upstage Minnie one. She ogled over His Royal Nibbs while he took centre stage out on the field throwing him alluring looks to the point one bystander asked if they were an item. "Nah, not that I know of," remarked a team member.
His Royal Nibbs was going to play the entire game and was oblivious to how Alice made the children sit quietly so she could enjoy the match. "No, don't sit on the grass! Get out of that puddle! Don't do that." She placed them on the ground with a jacket under them and instructed them to stay put. Then she ignored them. She had told them to stay so they were to stay where she placed them but she was much annoyed with Minnie who got them up to kick a ball around and to move so they could keep warm. Alice would have to keep an eye on both them and the game. Again she vowed that anyone who got in her way would be eliminated. And that bitch had upstaged her again.
It didn't really matter much watching the game. By the time it was over, they were skunked and nearly double numbered. His Royal Nibbs was really upset with the result. Both goalies were useless. He had to find another one. But where? And this letting everyone play was a problem too, he thought. Some of those players shouldn't really be on the field. That was something he had to fix and soon.
As the team trudged back, a bit down, soaking wet, but spirits unbroken, they didn't have any clue what was in store for them. In and out of the changing rooms quickly, they parted ways. Nellie offered to take His Royal Nibbs and kids home and Alice made sure to get in on the action. "Can I catch a ride too!" "Sure," said Nellie. "Hop in!" "Gawd, next to them damn kids," she thought. "Well hopefully it won't be for very long and they won't move around or talk to me."
This was the beginning of Nellie's new job; team chauffeur for the elite without wheels.
