Nibby crawled out of the shower and found his fresh clothes that were neatly put away for him. Donning his favourite sweater and jeans, he went out into the livingroom to put his shoes on. "Where do you think you're going?" "OUT! And it's none of your f**kin' business where I'm going. You know something. You're really selfish. I go out and work all week and on the weekends, I want a break, but oh no," with a sarcastic tone in his voice, "you whine you want a break. Well you had yours, yesterday. I'm going to have my mine today!" he shouted at her. "But we're supposed to be going over to my mother's for the afternoon. We'd planned it." "No, you planned it. You take the kids over yourself and I'll be back when I'm damn-well back." Nibby didn't like the way he'd been put off by her earlier. He got up and stormed out the front door, making sure to give it an extra-hard slam. Tears streamed down her face.

Nibby marched his way down to the bus stop without looking back, all the events of the evening before and the morning swirling through his head. "How could she act like that," he selfishly thought. "She knew when she married me that I loved playing soccer with the guys, getting out with the guys. How could she! How could she not appreciate what I do." The more he thought, the angrier he became.

Nibby had, without intention, timed the bus quite well as it arrived at his stop when he did. He climbed on and sat near the back. There was a woman with a baby in her arms, the child crying incessantly. He was glad his kids were past that stage and he couldn't wait until they got off the bus. Two stops later, they did, and he was relieved he didn't have to hear it. He quietly sat the rest of his journey, staring in to space. As the bus rounded the corner, he could see the Boar's Nest. "Aahhhhhhh," he thought. "I wonder who's there today." He got up waiting for the bus to stop. He never really thought of how convenient it was that the stop was nearly in front of his favourite drinking spot. He began to cheer up some and bounded off the bus as soon as he could.

Making his way through the crowds of Sunday shoppers, he got to the door and opened it up like he was coming home. In the corner sat Shortie and Lester lapping up their pale ales like it was water. "Hey guys! What's up!" roared Nibby from across the pub, bellying up to the bar to get his order. The barkeep didn't even have to ask what he wanted. He knew, and poured him an ale and a shooter of whiskey on the side. Paying for his drinks, Nibby strutted over like he owned the pub and plopped himself down with his new soccer friends. "Hey, ya think the Blackhorse are gonna take City this Wednesday?" gulping down a large mouthful of beer. "Well, we are fielding a pretty strong team," said Lester. "We'd better whomp their f**ckin' arses! Or I'll be givin'em a piece of my mind." Lester liked to think he was a tough shoot from the hip kinda of guy. Shortie got in on the conversation, "Yeah yeah Lester, you tell'em b'y."

Piggie came through the door and everyone turned hearing him as he came in. "Hey, let's eat. What the f**k is the special barkeep an' get me a beer!" ‘Yo piggie, it's roast pig," shouted Shortie, not bashful at speaking loudly. "Yeah, f**k you too," jousted Piggie right back. Piggie had such a delightful way with words. He swaggered over, beer in hand and grabbed a seat, changing it around so he was leaning on the backrest. "You guys order yet? I'm starved!" The barkeep came over and asked if they did want to order. "Right on," said Piggie smiling. "I'll have the special. No make that two." His Royal Nibbs and the others also ordered the special but were much more reserved. They only ordered one each and of course His Royal Nibbs ordered another round. "Where in the hell do you pack all that away?" Lester smiled slyly at him. "Hey, I'm a growing f**ckin' boy. I need my energy." "Yeah, you'll be growing all right if you keep eating like that," Shortie said with a laugh in his voice. The barkeep made sure they got their drinks quickly and went back to tend the bar. With fresh drinks in hand, they settled into small talk waiting for their lunch arrive. Nibby began to forget about his troubles at home.

Alice decided that she would head down to the Boar's Nest. If she did run into Nibby, she could use the excuse she was getting lunch. She donned her tight black tanktop and cargo pants and topped her outfit with a low cut oversized T. She looked at herself in the mirror and thought about how small she looked in the outfit. She grabbed new tissues and stuffed herself carefully making sure that some cleavage showed by heightening up her natural characteristics. "Voila," she thought. She carefully placed her makeup on softening it from the night before, but still looking pasty white from her thick application of foundation. She found her walkman and stuffed it into the side pocket of her pants placing the headphones around her neck. In her other pocket, she stuffed her money and bus pass. She was ready for action.

The bus ride was considerably longer for Alice and she hoped that he was going to be there. She didn't want to appear to be throwing herself at His Royal Nibbs so she had to figure out what to say if he was there, to start a conversation up with him. The bus stop was a block and a half away from the pub so that gave her time to figure something out. As she got off the bus, she decided what she was going to say; she knew what she had to say.

Alice entered the Boar's Nest quietly and in the corner, she could see His Royal Nibbs and a few of the other players sitting together. "Gawd," she thought, "where did they all come from." She knew she might have to think quickly; her plan temporarily on hold. Lester noticed her first as she made her way over to put on a show of niceties. "What are you doing here?" As she began to speak, the waitress who served the meals appeared at their table. "Well the same thing you are of course. A nice lunch and a cold beer to go with it." Alice turned to the waitress, "Got anything vegetarian?" she inquired. "Well, we do serve caser's salad?" "I'll have one of those and a beer then." Alice smiled. Turning back to the guys, she started, "So, mind if I sit down with you all?" "You're gonna sit here anyways if we like it or not," quipped Lester who didn't much care for her. Piggie grunted as he was all ready hot and heavy into his first plate. Nibby jumped in feeling that she could be a bit uncomfortable. "Sure!" he said boisterously. He grabbed a chair from the empty table next to theirs and placed it next to his and at the same time, the waitress returned to serve Alice with her salad and beer.
